North Van Addition

The clients loved the home that their family has grown in over the years, but they were dreaming of something more than the practical kitchen that occupied a narrow space in the house. They opted to build out the front of their typical split-level home to accommodate that dream kitchen, plus a larger, more functional entry fit for a family that loves to welcome guests. This traditional Shaker-style kitchen boasts a large-scale commercial range and built-in fridges, sleek white cabinets, a dry-goods pantry, and built-in features including a cozy bench seat where you can kick your feet up and read a book, and a desk so you can work while still in the centre of it all.

Vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams bring height and drama to the dining room, where a built-in bar includes a brick feature wall with floating shelves, a beverage fridge, a sink, a wine rack, and customized drawers for liquor. Library style art lights throughout the kitchen add a low level of light and a lot of character, and an entrance railing fitted with locally sourced wrought-iron spindles completes the look. A major addition to an existing home in North Vancouver, this project delivers everything a home chef could dream of, and more.
